Civil Rights Act of 1964

The Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits discrimination in employment based on race, color, religion, sex, or national origin. The basic provisions have been broadened to include handicaps, AIDS, pregnancy, sexual harassment, employee testing, and affirmative action.

Covered employers are those engaged in an industry affecting interstate commerce and who employ fifteen or more employees for each working day in each of twenty or more calendar weeks in the current year.

Helpful tip... Always check your paystub each payday. If there is something you don't understand, talk with your payroll department for help.
